Vegetable & Fruit Farming Transformation through developing small holder farmers. New Era Agricultural Development (NEAD) is a 67% Black-owned vegetable and fruit farming company.

  • NEADs’ initiatives seek to address the problems of rural unemployment and poverty in the Vhembe District Municipality
  • An area that has immense agriculture potential due to its dry and relatively frost free conditions
  • We aim to address the issue of lack of skills, funding, limited access to markets and poor farming infrastructure which are constraints hampering job creation in the vegetable farming sector
  • Our projects aim to capitate land owned by PDI’s whether it is private or communal land

  • Our model involves leasing the farms from the owners while we transfer skills and develop farming infrastructure for the landowners
  • We are involved in the primary production and value adding (agro-processing) aspects of farming
  • We control and own the value adding activities of our business
  • Farming across a number of farms helps us reduce risks (e.g. excessive rainfall/hail)
  • We currently operate on 3 farms with plans to expand into 9 other projects in the next 5 years
